In addition to our own line of fine residential furniture, Martin’s Chair also produces furniture for other well known manufacturers. Back in the mid 1980s, John was approached by Knoll International to produce a line of furniture designed by New York based architect, Richard Meier. Martin’s Chair was certainly not used to producing this kind of high-style contemporary furniture, but John’s entrepreneurial spirit would not allow him to turn them down. After many months of trials and development Knoll approved a finished product. The "Meier Collection", as it came to be known, was a tremendous success for both Martin’s Chair and Knoll. Along with private sales, pieces of the collection were displayed in both the Guggenheim and Atlanta’s High Museum of Art. Thus began Martin’s contract side of the business.
Since then, John has produced residential furniture designs for manufacturers such as Pennsylvania House, Lane and many others. Martin’s Chair has also produced commercial and institutional furniture for Brodart and American of Martinsville. In 2000, Martin’s Chair began a close relationship with Thomas Moser Cabinetmaker. Moser is well known for its residential furniture, but it also markets an equally high quality line of library furniture. Moser was aware of the work we did for Knoll and Brodart and asked if we would be interested in working with them as a subcontractor for its library furniture projects. Since then, we have been involved in many projects for universities such as Georgia, North Carolina and George Washington as well as public libraries for Washington D.C. (Mt Pleasant Branch) and Rancho Mirage.
No project is too small or too large. Please contact us if you have a commercial, institutional or library furniture need.
